Donna Botten (studio 6)

Picture
Goodrich, 11x15
Media: Watercolor and Printmaking

I am a self taught watercolor artist who dabbles in oils. I have been painting for over 20 years and have been juried into many international shows. I am a signature member of NWWS and past President of Women Painters of Wa. Painting anything like rusty old cars, trucks and tractors are fun but my real love though is painting portraits, human and the four legged variety. Pouring watercolors and dabbling in printmaking have also been inspiring as it helps me to loosen up and give in to the media and just let it happen.

Against the Flow, stratomorphic rendering
Media: Stratomorphic Rendering

We see the world in layers of truthful representation, but what if our vision was opened to the shadows of the truth beyond the real? My art is the unknown just beyond the familiar. I begin with a photograph and then go deep into the image itself to free the restless phantasmagorias within the still life. Through Stratomorphic Rendering, a digital media technique that involves painstakingly working through multiple artistically enhanced layers of each image, I coax out the heart of each piece to deliver a visual experience that offers more than reality.

donna Nevitt-Radtke (STUDIO 3)

Picture
Art of the Plow
Media: Oil, Pastel

Using an impressionistic impasto style each painting challenges me in my quest to push the boundaries and Blur the lines between representational and abstract.  My primary medium had always been Oil, loved for its’ luscious buttery texture, then I discovered Pastels. Nothing else gives the immediate satisfaction of pure fabulous color.  Now I divide my studio time between the two.   On my canvas the inspiring Northwest landscape gets filtered through my artists’ eye showing a different view of the world.

kent nordby (STUDIO 5)

Media: Oil

A self-taught oil painter originally from Seattle, I have been living on Fidalgo Island for the last five years and painting the landscapes of the Skagit Valley, North Cascades and Puget Sound region.  While my style is still evolving, I would say it is best described and realistic with a touch of impressionism, with a lot of bold and vivid color.  I hope to continue painting the beautiful scenes of this region for many years to come.

Picture
"Geranium" 8"x8" acrylic on cradled birch
Media: Acrylics

Mary is a long time Skagit resident and a lifelong PNW resident. She is inspired by experiences. Working in healthcare gives her a strong sense of connection. Hiking and paddling in the northwest and around the world, Mary feels rooted to the energies of the earth.  She strives to infuse positivity in her work that the viewer can sense.

“Seeking to put positive energy into the ether is the focus of my daily life as well as my work as an artist. Finding balance between the artist and the business person, the home body and the nomad, the extrovert and the shy. The dichotomies abound. And yet, when I think about it, it all comes down to peace, love, and happiness.”

ron radke (studio 3)

Picture
Media: Contemporary Wood Art

Ron is an Anacortes wood artist, a self taught wood turner. He has had an interest and admired the the works of the artists that have mastered the medium.
He has always enjoyed wood working. In the antique business he would match trim, and replace damaged parts etc. But this did not exercise his creative side.
After retiring he researched by reading books and finding information on the internet. Learning the woods, tools, lathes, finishes, and overall procedures for over a year before purchasing his lathe and taking on the challenge. Once he started it went far beyond a hobby and turned into a passion.
My passion is blending contemporary and natural shapes. An interaction between me and a piece of a living tree lets me sculpt  wood into visual and tactical art. Many times the wood reveals its character and that changes its overall design. The shape comes once I have started turning and as I finish the piece.
Many of my pieces are turned with green wood that is not com

I offer images in a variety of sizes while keeping my prices reasonable, so I can share my experiences with a broader audience.

After participating for a number of years in Open Studios Santa Cruz, CA, as well as numerous additional art shows in the Santa Cruz County, CA area, I’m excited about sharing my work and travels with Skagit County, as well as developing a relationship with the artists in this area.
